Automatic Dimensional Reduction Tool (Test Version)

Introduction

When supplied with a STEP file containing a single surface the tool will return a reduced dimensional STEP file, in which slender regons are approximated as beam elements. A slender region is one where the Aspect Ratio (the ratio of its length to thickness) is greater than a defined value. An offset (as a multiple of the local thickness) is applied so that the reduced dimensional model begins away from any stress concentrations due to change in section. Instructions

The Finite Element Modelling Group will be looking at all files for the purposes of assessing the quality of results provided by the tool.
